How can I find out if a domain name is available? 
To search for a domain name, simply type the name in the search box on the MCS registration page and click "GO!". Within seconds we will tell you if your selection is available! Keep in mind that your name is not registered until your payment has been processed, and there is no obligation to buy. 

How much does a domain name cost? 
You may register a domain name for a yearly fee of $14.99. This includes domain names ending in .com, .net .org .biz and .info. This covers a one-year term, after which we will contact you with renewal options. 

How do I choose the best domain name? 
Generally, the best names are those that are easy to remember, easy to type, and easy to spell. Short names are usually preferable to long names. For instance, the domain name "joespizza.com" is easier to remember than "joespizzastoreonfifth.com", even though the longer name is more descriptive. What if I misspell my domain name? 
Unfortunately, once a domain name has been registered, it cannot be changed. Please type your domain name carefully when placing an order! You will be given a chance to review your information before your order is submitted. 


What happens when my domain name expires? 
You will always have the option of renewing your domain name before it expires. You will receive an e-mail giving you the option to renew 30 days before your domain name expires. 

How do I change the contact information associated with my domain name? 
You can change your contact information by logging into your domain manager with your username and password. You will receive this information in an e-mail when your domain name is registered. If you have lost this information, simply e-mail info@MarkAlpine.com. For your protection, we will not give your password to anyone on the phone. However, we will be happy to email your password to the email address we have on file for you. 

Is my domain contact information available to others? 
Your domain contact information is available to anyone who performs a whois search on the Internet. This rule is set by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). 

How can I find out whom a domain name has been registered to? 
Enter the domain name you wish to research in the search box on the MCS Registration Page. If the name is registered, it will be displayed as a link to the public information of the registrant. 

What is URL Forwarding? 
If you currently have a website, MCS URL Forwarding can make it appear when a visitor types in your domain name. Using our proprietary URL Forwarding technology, we "point" your domain name to your existing site on the Internet. For instance, if you register "www.example.com", you may use MCS URL Forwarding to "point" to "www.geocities.com/members/neighborhood/joepizz334.html". 


What is hosting? 
Hosting is storage space provided on a server specially designed for websites. In order to have a website, we will need to upload your website to the server. MCS offers several competitive hosting plans. 

What do I need to put up a website? 
You need three things to put up a website: 

A domain. The address where people can find your website. 
A hosting account. Space provided on a computer that can be accessed by other computers. 
Your webpages. Your website will appear when we upload your webpages to your hosting account. You need at least one page, which is the default page that appears when someone types your domain into a browser. 

What if I registered my domain through another company? Can I still buy a MCS hosting account? 
Sure, no problem! We will have to change the DNS information for your domain, which is a simple process. Just contact us and we'll change the name servers associated with your domain to our name servers:

Once we have changed your name servers, please allow 24-48 hours for those changes to take effect throughout the 'Net. 

What is Disk Space? 
Disk space is the amount of hard drive space available for storing your web site and files on our servers. 

What is Monthly Data Transfer? 
Whenever someone visits your site, data is sent from our servers to your visitor's system. This data include web pages, images, sound files, programs, compressed files, or anything else on your web site that can be downloaded or viewed by visitors. Each Web.com hosting plan includes generous data transfer limits. 

Does MCS offer 24 hour technical support? 
Yes! We are dedicated to our customers and offer 24 x 7 x 365 always-on online support via email, and online resource center.

I forgot my password! How can I logon to the Control Panel? 
Your privacy is our primary concern. For your protection, we will not give your password to anyone on the phone. However, if you have lost your password, call our customer service representatives and we will be happy to email your password to the email address we have on file for you. 

What are the browsers that MCS supports? 
MCS supports Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher and Netscape 4.0 or higher. 

Can I access my webmail in AOL or Compuserve Browsers? 
No. MCS Webmail is only supported in Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher and Netscape 4.0 or higher. 



Is my credit card information safe? 
Your privacy is our primary concern. For your protection, all sensitive information that you submit to MCS is encrypted and secure. "Sensitive information" includes all credit card information, email addresses and personal contact information.
